About Skin
Did you know that your skin is your largest living organ? Collagen is the building block that provides the foundation for your skin; it contributes to skin elasticity, tone and texture. Collagen deteriorates over time and wrinkles and creases form. This happens as part of the natural aging process, and because of lifestyle and environmental factors. Sun exposure, in particular, accelerates skin breakdown and can trigger many cellular reactions, including skin discoloration (“age spots”). Proper skincare and sun protection can protect skin from the outside in, but it’s today’s laser and light technologies that can replenish collagen and improve skin appearance from the inside out.

Customized laser and light treatments address a variety of cosmetic concerns quickly and easily depending on your skin condition, age, lifestyle, and sun exposure. We perform all procedures in our Atherton office in 30-60 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas we treat, and you generally return to your normal daily routine without interruption. Our experienced staff uses advanced, state-of-the-art laser and light technologies to deliver efficient and effective results with one or more sessions, depending on the desired level of improvement. We can also combine procedures to maximize outcome quality and treat multiple cosmetic concerns during the same session. These procedures include Intense Pulsed Light Treatment (IPL), also known as Broadband Pulsed Light (BBL) Treatment, Laser Hair Removal, Skin Tightening, MicroLaserPeel and Profractional Laser Treatment.
Intense Pulsed Light Treatment (IPL)
IPL Treatment addresses problems with sun-damaged and aging skin, as well as vascular irregularities, hair removal and more. The IPL technology delivers gentle, non-invasive pulses of light energy to the skin through a cooled handpiece. This protects and soothes the skin surface, allowing the light energy to penetrate the epidermis comfortably to achieve the desired level of improvement. Patients generally notice significant incremental improvement in three to six sessions. We can target a variety of cosmetic concerns using a range of light wavelengths during separate or simultaneous sessions. IPL is commonly used on the face, neck, chest, back, and hands, where sun exposure is maximal, but other areas can benefit from treatment too. We review simple pre- and post-treatments instructions with you during your consultation.

Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal offers the ideal solution for anyone with unwanted hair, even those with complications of shaving, waxing and electrolysis. This procedure is one of the leading non-invasive cosmetic procedures because of its efficacy and efficiency. Our treatment generates heat sufficient to damage hair follicles, where hair originates, while a built-in cooling system soothes and protects the skin surface. Patients note a significant reduction in hair growth and hair lightens and finally disappears with each subsequent treatment. We recommend laser hair removal for most hair colors.
Skin Tightening
Skin tightening (SkinTyte) treatments improve skin laxity anywhere on the body. This procedure delivers non-invasive, selective deep heating through a protective cooling layer, to tighten and tone skin. The heat contracts stretched collagen fibers and triggers new collagen formation, strengthening the skin’s foundation. The majority of patients notice immediate tightening and firming, but visible improvement continues over three to six months. We recommend skin tightening for patients who desire moderate, noticeable skin improvement without having to undergo surgery. The areas we commonly treat include the face, neck, hands and abdomen. However, we can use this treatment almost anywhere on the body. There’s no recovery period with skin tightening, so you may apply cosmetics and sunscreen and even return to work following your treatment. Our staff will develop a treatment plan based upon analysis of your skin and the level of improvement you desire.
MicroLaserPeel (Micro Laser Peel)
MicroLaserPeels are partial to full thickness epidermal peels that improve skin tone and texture and correct other manifestations of skin-aging by stimulation collagen production. Skin immediately appears smoother, healthier and more vibrant, with continued progressive improvement. This procedure precisely removes the outermost layers of skin and we customize treatment to target superficial or deeper skin layers as appropriate. Unlike Microdermabrasion, which only removes the outer 10 microns on the skin surface, the MicroLaserPeel ablates more deeply, removing up to 50 microns of aged and sun-damaged tissue with predictable and uniform results. Also referred to as the “weekend peel,” most patients schedule sessions at the end of the week, returning to work the following Monday. Profractional Laser Treatment
Profractional treatment also improves skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and other scarring with little to no downtime. This procedure ablates tiny micro-channels in the epidermis to promote the development of new tissue, dramatically improving skin appearance. This accelerates collagen production and promotes the skin's natural processes for creating new, healthier tissue to replace the damaged cells. Surrounding tissue remains intact and unaffected, unlike full facial peels which ablate 100% of skin. We can also control and tune the depth and density of ablation based on your desired level of improvement. The type of laser and wavelength we use provide the most comfortable fractional laser treatment available. Patients notice results immediately, with continued progressive improvement.
